Red Dot Roundup

Red Dot sights have come a long way and have helped millions of shooters be even more accurate. I learned much about the new and innovative new red dots as I was walking the floor in Las Vegas during SHOT Show 2024. Let’s look at what caught my eye.

Aimpoint ACRO P-2
Aimpoint launched the ACRO (Advanced Compact Reflex Optic) P-2 with three new color options: Sniper Grey, FDE and black. Each sight has a 3.5-MOA dot size, four night-vision compatible settings and six daylight settings. Sights feature an enclosed optical channel and LED emitter which keep the optic fully protected from the elements. ACRO sights are tested to stand up to intense vibration, shock, temperature and stress. The ACRO P-2 is created with Cerakote H-Series surface coating, weighs only 2.1 ounces and boasts a five-year battery life. The ACRO P-2 is created for pistol applications requiring a low-profile red dot system. MSRP is $721.

Holosun SCS Carry
With Holosun’s success with the SCRS (Solar Charging Rifle Sight), it has now created the game-changing SCS Carry for a compact pistol-mounted optic. With multiple advanced features, including an impressive 20,000-hour power reserve, the sight gives extensive operational capability. The solar charging internal battery harnesses the power of the sun, giving continuous energy for convenience and sustainable life. There is a multi-sensor auto brightness system that ensures visibility in a variety of situations. The brightness override allows users to make the brightness suit them.

Burris Fastfire C
Burris has brought the FastFire C to the market with the latest innovation in red dot sights which are designed for subcompact and micro-compact pistols used for everyday use and concealed-carry situations. The FastFire C is light, weighing less than an ounce, but also built to be very durable with a 7075 series aluminum housing, and aspheric glass lens featuring a 32-MOA circle and a 2-MOA dot.

The new Fastfire C runs on an easily acquired CR2032 battery with a claimed 20,000-hour run time and features “Always On” technology as well as a multi-sensor automatic-brightness system that automatically adjusts the dot brightness of the dot to the environment. The package includes an RMSc to K adapter to fit a wide variety of handguns. MSRP is $276.

Sightmark Mini Shot M-Spec M2 Solar
Sightmark has introduced a red dot sight, which is ideal for short to medium-range engagements. The solar panel, and automatic brightness adjustment for convenience and practicality. The reticle is a red 3-MOA dot with an elevation adjustment of 110 MOA. The casing is made from 6061-T6 aluminum and has a sturdy, durable matte-black finish. The Mini Shot M-Spec can be easily mounted on either a Weaver or Picatinny rail and is able to operate at temperatures from -22 degrees to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. The optic is also shockproof for drops up to 3 feet and water-resistant. MSRP is $299.97.

Trijicon RMR HD Reflex sight
A solidly built red-dot pistol optic, specifically designed to adapt to the needs of Law Enforcement and Military applications. The RMR HD features the patented housing shape made from forged aluminum. The Trijicon RMR HD allows the user to adjust the Automatic Illumination and has dot/circle contrast. An innovative forward looking light sensor gauges the brightness at the target in auto mode.

Adding to the well thought out internal components, there are large tactile buttons, adjusters and improved audible and tactile feedback and expanded field of view. With the same footprint as the RMR, the RMR HD fits most existing optics-ready duty holsters and is built or high-performance and reliability. MSRP $849.
